내부 및 기능적 설계
내부 공간은 두 부분으로 나뉩니다. 정원 쪽을 향하여 오픈된 더블 하이트 공간에는 거실과 다이닝룸이 주 침실과 함께 조화롭게 배치되며, 공유된 가정의 중심을 만들어냅니다. 거리 쪽으로는 주방과 주인의 도자기 작업실이 자리잡고 있습니다. 위층에는 두 아이의 방이 중앙 스튜디오를 통해 상호 연결됩니다.
층간 구조 조화 및 역사적 조화
상층은 원래 1층으로 설계된 구조적 제한을 존중하며 가벼운 구조물로 건축되었습니다. 이를 통해 집이 과거를 압도하지 않고 성장할 수 있게 되었습니다. 내부에서는 과거와 현재의 물질적 전환이 의도적으로 드러나며, 벽을 통한 개구부는 원래의 두께와 질감을 노출시켜 집의 이전 삶을 보여줍니다.
새로운 추가물 및 외관
건물 전면에 도자기 작업실을 위한 새로운 가마실이 추가되었습니다. 나무로 덮이고 하얗게 칠해진 이 추가물은 집과 살짝 떨어져 서 있으며, 이 집의 가장 최근 변화를 나타내는 조용한 서명처럼 보입니다. 외부는 전체적으로 금속 외피로 싸여 단순한 형태의 존재감을 띠고 있으며, 내면의 복잡성을 숨깁니다.

Nestled on the outskirts of Santiago, Chile, Casa Tam undergoes a transformative renovation under the meticulous guidance of Iván Bravo. The project embraces the house's past, carefully incorporating original brick fragments into a seamless architectural continuum. Rather than obliterating its history, the renovation extends the original layouts, melding them with prior expansions to create a layered spatial experience that manifests the house's chronicles.
Facing the street, the house presents an urban facade, consciously veering away from the mountainous backdrop. The roof cascades with the natural slope, anchoring the rear into the garden with a slender, semi-subterranean formation that reshapes the relationship with its surroundings.
Functional and Interior Planning
Inside, the plan bifurcates into two realms. The open, double-height core toward the interior garden aligns the living, dining, and main bedroom into a unified domestic nucleus. Toward the street, the kitchen and ceramic workshop compose a compact service wing. Above, two children’s rooms converge at a shared central studio, enhancing communal space through vertical layers.
Coherent Structure and Historic Integration
The upper story respects the limitations of the original foundation, maintaining lightness to allow for expansion without overshadowing the past. Material transitions within are intentionally prominent, with openings exposing the raw essence of former structures.
New Additions and Exterior Features
A newly added kiln for the ceramics workshop, clad in wood and painted white, marks the house's latest chapter, positioned slightly apart, serving as a signature of recent transformations. Externally, a cohesive metal skin envelopes the house, offering a monolithic yet abstract presence, contrasting the nuanced complexity inside.
