3D 프린팅 업계의 선두주자인 VulcanForms가 2억 2,000만 달러의 투자 유치로 미국 시장 내 대규모 확장을 꾀하고 있다.

매사추세츠에 본사를 둔 이 회사는 공급망 파편화와 지정학적 문제로 인한 무역 혼란을 기회로 삼아 국내 생산의 필요성을 강조하며, 온라인 기반 생산 시스템을 구축하고 있다. 이번 투자 라운드는 Eclipse와 1789 Capital이 주도했으며, VulcanForms는 미국 최초의 완전 통합 디지털 금속 제조 플랫폼으로서의 위치를 강화하고자 한다.

VulcanForms는 보스턴 외곽에 위치한 두 곳의 시설을 통해 정밀 금속 적층 제조 기술, 자동화, 검사, AI 기반 소프트웨어 등의 통합된 작업 공정을 제공한다. 이는 의료기기, 소비재, 방위산업 등 다양한 시장에 걸쳐 대규모 상업 프로그램을 통해 그 성과를 입증하고 있다.

이번 자금은 연구개발, 자재 포트폴리오 확장 및 시설 확대에 주로 사용될 예정이다. Kevin Kassekert CEO는 “이번 자금 조달로 급증하는 수요에 대응하고, 국산 공급망 재건을 위한 핵심 파트너로서의 역할을 확대할 수 있게 되었다"고 밝혔다.

또한 1789 Capital의 우미드 말릭 회장은 VulcanForms의 플랫폼이 독보적인 정밀도와 속도로 미션 크리티컬 구성 요소를 국내로 생산해 오는 데 큰 기여를 하고 있다고 전했다.

Based in Massachusetts, VulcanForms seeks to address needs arising from supply chain fragmentation and geopolitical disruptions, emphasizing the importance of secure domestic production. This latest funding round, spearheaded by Eclipse and 1789 Capital, aims to bolster VulcanForms' position as America's first fully integrated digital metal manufacturing platform.

Operating two facilities near Boston, VulcanForms provides an end-to-end workflow that includes advanced metal additive manufacturing technologies, automation, inspection, and AI-enabled proprietary software. The company claims strong commercial programs across diverse markets such as medical devices, consumer products, aerospace, and defense.

The additional capital will be allocated to further research & development, expanding material portfolios, and the augmentation of facilities. Kevin Kassekert, CEO, stated, “This funding allows us to meet surging demand and enhance our role as a critical partner for companies rebuilding resilient domestic supply chains."
